New Recycling Facts

The following article lists some simple recycling facts, informative tips that will help you have a better experience with recycling. We consider the question: how does recycling affect the environment?

Recycling reduces energy consumption, since it generally takes less energy to recycle a product than to make a new one. Similarly, recycling causes less pollution than manufacturing a new product, and conserves raw materials. Recycling management software is becoming increasingly important to operate an effective recycling business. The most advanced software enables the users to perform a variety of tasks crucial to effective business planning. Recycling your cell phone means more cash and less trash! We all want to do our part to make this world a better place and live more “green”.

Recycling means to take a waste product, a used plastic bottle for example, and reduce it back to a raw material (plastic pellets/chips) to make new products, such as new plastic bottles. Reuse means to use a waste product in its current form for a different purpose. Recycling can take many forms. On a small scale, any time you find a new use for something old, you’re recycling. Recycling centers and landfills across the country are preparing for a surge of unwanted sets in coming months. Next February, most TV broadcasts will be available only in digital form.

Compost leaves at home if you have the space. Shredding first with a lawn mower helps them break down faster. Composting is an aerobic, oxygenating process that does not produce methane. Composting several municipalities supply residents with subsidized compost bins so organic waste (otherwise destined for landfills) can be recycled into a usable soil conditioner. Five years later it had distributed more than 15,000 compost bins ($25 each) to householders, thus diverting about 3,800 tonnes of organic material annually.

The Environmental Protection Agency launched a working group to establish responsible recycling practices. Known as R2, the practices that have come out of the group so far are “a set of guidelines” and “not legal requirements” according to the EPA’s web site. Environmental impact numbers are for average American household switching to electronic statements, bills, and payments.

Reusing or recycling should be a major part of our eco living today. Some people would question how eco friendly anything made from plastics can be, but otherwise they would be landfill. Reuse your carrier bags, use them as bin liners or even invest in a bag for life. Even by reusing your carrier bag once more makes a massive difference.

Don’t limit yourself by refusing to learn the recycling facts. The more you know, the easier it will be to focus on what’s important in answering the question “how does recycling affect the environment”.

Recycling programs do not need to be expensive, they need to be effective. Successful recycling programs have high participation and strong collection rates. Recycling is becoming ever-more widespread and sound waste management is something that is very widely recognised as part of everyday life by many people. The increased amount of people recycling means there is not as much need for skip hire. Recycling is work, even in a recycling-friendly town such as the one I live in. And harder work for many seniors and disabled.

Recycling windshields saves valuable and declining landfill space, releases zero CO2 and cuts the carbon footprint. The president and founder of a second glass company in Portland, OR, got the idea for his windshield glass recycling company when he saw all. Recycling questions An important question now arises; how good is the recycled product? Another question is how much the government spend on recycling all of these products? Recycling refers to the process of collecting used materials which is usually considered as waste and reprocessing them. In this process these used materials are sorted and processed to be used as raw materials for the production of new products.

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Solar Energy

How does solar energy work? When you think about the advantages and disadvantages of solar energy, what do you think of first? Which aspects of solar power are important, which are essential, and which ones can you take or leave? You be the judge.

Alternative energy offers a myriad of choice of free, clean renewable energy. Industry had been so dependent to oil products, but then oil reserve will not last long for coming generations. Alternative energy is the energy component beneath the clean technology umbrella. It includes solar, wind power, fuel cell technology, biofuels and others energy technologies that promote an economic and environmental benefit. Alternative energy is one of the best sectors to invest in these days specifically, penny stocks based on alternative energy.

Biomass and other renewable energy technologies such as wind, solar and wave are desirable to power our future. Biomass – wood products, cellulosic feedstock and byproducts from grain crops – is being evaluated throughout the state to include gases containing carbon from decomposing landfill material. But timber and grain are the focus, and the interest fluctuates with commodity prices.

So how does solar energy work? If you find yourself confused by what you’ve read to this point, don’t despair. Everything should be crystal clear by the time you finish.

Alternative energy has emerged as a key investment area for venture capitalists. The increasing need for cheaper and cleaner energy sources has made firms realize that the sector holds great potential.

Solar energy is also a resource that is infinite and renewable and as long as the sun is shining there is always going to be a lot of energy available. Using solar energy hardly requires any maintenance other than keeping the solar panels in good order. Solar energy is a renewable and inexhaustible source of powerful energy that is derived from the sun. Science tells us that the Sun isn’t in jeopardy of dying on us for at least a couple of billion years.

Alternative energy advocates broadly agree that the federal government never has provided the robust, steady support that renewable energy needs to compete with cheap coal electricity. Subsidies born of the oil shocks of the 1970s were scaled back in the 1980s. Alternative energy also has the potential to focus on IP transaction work since it is likely that big oil, gas, and chemical companies are also going to have to license or acquire new technologies.

Take time to consider the points presented above to help answer how does solar energy work. What you learn may help you overcome your hesitation to take action.

How Does Solar Energy Work?

Have you ever wondered if what you know about the workings of solar energy is accurate? Consider the following paragraphs and compare what you know to the latest info on the advantages and disadvantages of solar energy.

Solar energy use takes many forms nowadays. Solar panels are getting cheaper. Solar energy allows you to cut down on many expenses that are associated with heating and lighting at home. Why go for energy bills that you can do without. Solar energy is produced at the core of the sun by nuclear fusion. This energy is then radiated to the convection zone, where mixing transfers the energy to the photosphere.

Power generated by using clean energy technologies can also be sold to the other countries, boosting the trade deficit. They can power remote locations, such as a cabin, RV or boat. Build solar-powered ovens and heaters with which to cook food.

Most of this information comes straight from the solar energy pros. Careful reading to the end virtually guarantees that you’ll know what they know.

Solar energy collectors located at the top will collect energy to be collected and recharged during the day time to be used at night. The power stored in the batter will probably run up to ten hours thanks to LED lights being integrated in to the system. Solar energy is renewable energy which is environmentally friendly, and it is free once the solar panels for electricity generation are in place, except for the cost to maintain and repair this equipment.

Electrolysis with platinum is old hat. New substance catalyses reaction at positive electrode releasing oxygen with a lower energy cost. Electricity is produced with the help of a solar power system. Not every person ca operate the solar power system only those individuals who have a know how of the solar power system and know how they work can operate the solar power systems.

Solar energy, as the name itself suggests, is sourced from that glowing ball of fire in the sky that we call the sun. What we call sunlight is actually beams of electromagnetic waves that are absorbed by the upper strata of the earth’s atmosphere. Solar energy and ‘going green’ are getting a lot of attention these days.

Those who only know one or two facts about the workings of solar energy can be confused by misleading information. The best way to help those who are misled is to gently correct them with the truths you’re learning here about the advantages and disadvantages of solar energy.

Green Energy – Our Future Sources Of Power

by Jerry Dyess

Although Americans tend to travel less than people in other countries and often speak only one language, we have always been concerned with the way the world sees us. Yes, the stereotype of the ugly American is one most try to live down when traveling overseas. But recently Americans have been roundly criticized, as a nation, for their consumption, or really over consumption of the world’s energy. According to the most recent statistics, America is about 4 percent of the world’s population and yet we consume nearly 25 percent of the world’s energy.

Needless to say this is quite embarrassing, especially when you consider most Europeans have cut down on traditional forms of energy. A great example of this is when the European Union announced their plans to reduce CO2 levels by 20% before 2020. This means several companies will have to work together and utilize other forms of energy such as solar and wind. Billions have already been invested in this product by Germany, Great Britain, and the Netherlands (as well as others), in hopes of changing the world.

Do you know what the Americans did? Uhm, absolutely nothing. Instead our politicians spent countless hours arguing over whether this is a viable problem. Without an agreement it means there is no new legislation, and without legislation we are left looking like the bad guy in the world’s eyes. The truth is our politicians are missing the point. Even if climate change wasn’t a real issue, we are still consuming a quarter of the world’s energy. This is really embarrassing, and the only way to control it is by utilizing all the alternatives that are right in front of us everyday.

So in order to change our country and help the world, it’s up to us to make the change ourselves. We have to work together and show all of our politicians that this is the answer. Granted, it’s not going to be an easy task, but it starts with you. When you realize the benefits and see the difference, your word of mouth will spread to others, and eventually we can all consume less energy, save money on bills, and help the environment.

Solar Power – The first option most people turn to is solar power. This definitely makes sense considering our recent rise in electricity costs. While solar power is clean, sustainable, and free, it’s extremely inexpensive to install. Just ask all the individuals already taking this route whether or not there are plenty of benefits. What it comes down to is the majority of your electricity needs can be met with ease. However, solar power doesn’t produce electricity on cloudy days or at night, so some people utilize wind turbines as well.

Wind Turbines – One of the most important things to understand about wind turbines is that they are simply small windmills. Each one of these can produce energy by the use of wind and are like we mentioned earlier, they are often used with solar energy to get the maximum benefits. It only costs a few hundred bucks to install which is a minor price for all the money you will save in the long run. Best of all there isn’t a lot of maintenance either.

Hybrid Cars – Many people are reluctant to purchase hybrid cars since they are more expensive than your traditional vehicles. However, if you take a look at the big picture, it won’t be long before you get that money back by saving on gas. It’s quite possible to save around $1,500 a year in gas. What would you do with an extra $1,500 in your pocket? Then of course over a 10 year span you would be saving $15,000.

Fluorescent Lights – Replace all of your standard light bulbs with compact fluorescent ones. These bulbs are far more energy efficient and may end up saving you hundreds of dollars a year on your electricity bill. They also last up to 10,000 hours, which is 10 times as long as the average bulb, and when they are spent they can even be recycled.

Energy Efficient Windows – Did you know most of the heat you lose during the winter is due to poorly built windows? If you’re trying to lower your heating bill, then this is probably one of the best investments you can make.

So there you have it, a few solid suggestions on how each and every one of us can do our part and stop being ugly Americans.

Using The Sun’s Energy In A Stirling New Way

by Michael Edwards

When doing the research for a article on new green products, I was unaware of many of the different ways to convert the energy of the sun into electrical power. I have written about solar cell or photovoltaic cell systems, so let’s look at another type of solar energy system.

The Stirling engine goes back to the early 1800’s, when steam was the order of the day. Steam was used to power factories, trains, and many types of work that required lots of horsepower. However, with steam came the danger of a boiler blowing up when something went wrong. Robert Stirling saw a different approach. His invention still used fire to heat the hot chamber but instead of steam, he used the heat to move pistons.

The Stirling engine has many different designs, some more efficient than others. Some designs use the two cylinder Alpha design, some the Beta single cylinder design and some the Gamma design (a variation of the beta for use in multiple cylinder applications). The beta Sterling design has a single chamber with two pistons and uses a highly efficient regenerator gas as the thermal conductor.

To operate the Stirling engine only an external heat source is required, which could be anything from solar heat to the heat produced by decaying plants. In one model, the heat from a human hand powers a small version of the Stirling engine!

The basic operation of this thermal engine is really quite simple. The engine has two chambers, one hot and one cold. When an external heat source is applied the hot air expands moving a piston and flows to the cold chamber. A flywheel is attached to maintain movement.

The reason the Stirling engine works so well for a solar application is that heat from the sun can easily be concentrated to heat the hot chamber. A parabolic mirror much like that seen with the roof mounted satellite dishes is used to gather and focus the sunlight. With the sunlight focused onto the hot chamber of the engine, the temperature raises and the engine starts running. Connect the output shaft to a generator, and electricity is the product.

The engine and support equipment is contained in a package small enough to be suspended from the end of a metal arm, much like the design of satellite TV systems but on a much larger scale. Some systems are producing 25K watts of power and have been installed and operational for a couple of years.

I will compare the different solar technologies in a later article. For now, I need to lay a foundational understanding of each of the green products used to produce power so a comparison can be made.

Michael
