Easy Wind Power Systems

As our society matures and we begin to understand and appreciate that everything we do will have an impact on our environment, we are starting to look for better ways of supplying our energy needs. Using wind turbines might just be one of those alternative sources of energy. Harnessing the power of the wind is nothing new, and now both countries around the world and the typical homeowner can produce electricity using the wind and household wind turbines.

Converting wind energy into electricity is done with a wind turbine. You’ve probably seen these behemoths in fields across the country. Recent advances in the technology have made it possible to downsize the turbines and make them viable for home use. If you’ve been noticing funny looking ‘wind mill’ things popping up in your neighborhood, you may have wondered if your neighbors have lost their minds or if they just know something you don’t. The truth is that there are wind turbines made especially for home use which are small enough to be mounted in the backyard or on a roof.

For many people, spending $600 to $10,000 for a home wind turbine is simply too much for the budget. Even if you were to save a lot of money on your electric bill, it would still take years to recoup your investment. However, you don’t need to give up. The truth is that many homeowners are building their own wind turbines for only a few hundred dollars.

More and more homeowners have decided to build a wind turbine. It is far easier than you might have imagined. The supplies you need to build a wind turbine can be found in any hardware store and will cost about $200, and the whole building process won’t take more than a few days. A good instruction manual with easy to follow directions will guide you every step of the way.

Since one turbine can be enough to generate almost 60% of the electricity you’ll need for your home, you can start to realize significant savings. Every day your wind turbine is working means another day of savings.

So if you want to save yourself some money while doing your part to help out the planet, you should consider building and installing your own home wind turbines. You can easily and inexpensively build a wind turbine in just a few days, and enjoy the savings for years to come.

A wind turbine can reduce your electric expenses by as much as 50 percent. Why not join the green revolution and learn how to build wind turbines for your home. Find out how to make your own wind generator and free yourself from the electric grid by visiting Make A Wind Turbine today!

Make Your Own Wind Turbine

Getting electricity from wind to power our machines is hardly a new concept, after all windmills have been around for centuries. The difference is that today we have the technology to convert that energy into electricity far more efficiently than ever before. Not only have industrialized countries harnessed wind power, but the average homeowner can now produce electricity using their own wind power.

If you are considering installing your own turbine you should know that if you choose to buy one it can cost upwards of $600, and in many cases, even as much as $12,000. At this price it could take years to realize a return on your investment. However, you can easily build your own household wind turbine in just a few days for far less, and still realize the same level of savings.

Green Energy – Alternatives To Fossil Fuels

by Neil Schlossman

Fossil fuels are predominant in today’s energy system and account for more than 85% of the world’s energy consumption. Today, the need for energy is enormous, plus it’s constantly growing and will continue to do so. How can we meet the energy demands, if we predominantly depend on fossil fuels? We can’t, and sooner or later we will have to find alternatives.

Why alternatives? Two reasons – energy supply and environmental concerns. We all know fossil fuels will eventually run out. By some estimates, they may be depleted within the next 50 years or so. Fossil fuels were formed from organic materials (dead plants and animals) over hundreds of millions of years and cannot be renewed. When they run out, they are gone for good.

The second reason is pollution. We use fossil fuels by burning (combustion) which produces many pollutants – carbon dioxide, sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxides, and volatile organic compounds. Emissions from the consumption of oil, natural gas, and coal, are responsible for approximately 80% of yearly carbon dioxide emissions in the world. This affects both our health and the environment.

Fossil fuels definitely don’t have a bright future. We know that the future belongs to renewable energy sources that do not pollute the environment. Not to mention they come in unlimited supplies. Solar, wind, and hydro are the main forms of renewable energy today.

Our overly dependence on non-renewable energy sources is, as we know, not sustainable. We should put in serious efforts to reduce it. There are renewable eco-friendly alternatives all around us.

The main drawback of renewable energy is the cost. It’s true, low fossil fuel prices made it difficult for alternative sources to compete. But this is changing. Technologies are improving and the cost of green energy has fallen dramatically over the last few years.

Alternative energy sources are definitely the way of the future. But how smooth will the transition from fossil fuels be? That’s up to us and is certainly something to consider sooner rather than later.

Home Heating Using the Sun

by Alexei Nevic

We have gotten accustomed to having heat available at the push of a button, but it is often from inefficient sources. Heating homes, schools, and businesses with solar power is cost effective in addition to being much more efficient. Even in winter there are several ways to capture the sun’s heat. In order to capture the heat from the sun you will need what is called a solar source. The source is something that will absorb and trap the heat from the sun’s rays. A simple example of this is a sunroom.

Sun rooms are attached to the house and are typically constructed of floor to ceiling glass panels. They are usually built to face the full morning sun so as to get the full effect of the heat. The glass intensifies the sun’s rays so that everything in the room is heated. This is a very efficient and generally economical way of heating.

Here are some other types of solar heat:

Thermal mass that absorbs and retains the heat of the sun while it is shining and then disperses it after the sun goes down.

A Trombe Wall is a natural ventilation and solar heating system. It uses air channels to retain the heat between glass and a thermal mass that is facing the sun. The sunlight is absorbed and stored in the wall. It is then circulated through vents in the top and bottom of the wall. The wall radiates heat this way.

Another solar ventilation system is called a solar chimney. It is made of thermal mass that is hollow on the inside. The chimney warms the air inside of it causing heat to rise. This allows the air to circulate and vent properly. Solar Chimney is also a solar ventilation system. It is made of a thermal mass that is hollow inside. The chimney will warm the air inside the chimney and causing the heat to rise. The rise allows the air to circulate and vent properly.

A good way to ventilate a building is using solar cooling. This is done by absorbing solar heat and cooling it by making ice with a solar powered steam engine attached to the cooling device.

There are several ways we can heat and cool our homes, schools, and businesses. The methods that have been listed try to highlight how you can use the sun for this need without having to depend on those that use non renewable materials for energy.

Home Wind Power

by Simon Berrit

Using the wind to power your own home from equipment in your own home, is very exciting and has what it takes to be a major force of renewable energy in the coming years. Although, many of those in the media do not seem to realize this.

The thing is the technology for generating electricity from the wind is getting better and better all the time. We are now at a point where pretty much anyone can se it and get a DIY Wind Turbine up and running in next to no time. It’s not the gigantic type that we have all seen in pictures or the TV, they are turbines that will fit in a back yard and provide enough power for a home or an office.

By building you own wind turbine you help yourself in some many different areas. First of course is the good that it will do from an environmental perspective.

Secondly, it’s a great way to save money on your fuel bills and let’s face it, they are only ever going to go in one direction and that is up.

Also last but by no means least is that it is real fun.

I personally started for financial reasons, but now home wind power and also solar power as well are my hobbies. I have made a lot of good friends and shared a lot of good times because of them.

There is a little that needs to be spent to get everything you need to build a turbine. Much of the stuff can be found around most homes, but if it can’t then the total cost to buy it all should not be more than 200 bucks.

As well as getting the right stuff needed to build a professional quality system, almost as important is getting a very high quality instruction guide. Using one of these will ensure that you have the proper guidance through the whole process.
