Recycling Tips To Save Money

So what are recycling facts really all about? The following report includes some fascinating information about how recycling affects the environment–info you can use, not just the old stuff they used to tell you.

If your council doesn’t pick up paper for recycling via a kerbside scheme, they may have some collection points for newspaper, magazines and telephone directories. For example, there may be paper banks at shopping centres and at civic amenity sites. The UK has a recycling rate of approximately 60% for iron and steel. Most of this waste comes from scrap vehicles, cooker, fridges and other kitchen appliances. A mobile phone, for example, damages the environment throughout its production (resources, energy), retail (transport), use (energy), and disposal (transport, toxic emissions) or recycling (energy) (22).

From July 2009 all visitors to Birmingham’s Household Recycling Centres will be required to verbally provide their postcodes to prove that they are Birmingham residents. If you are not a Birmingham City Council resident, upon arrival you will be given the opportunity to use the site once. A Working Group on Ship Recycling met during the session to work on the draft text and discuss related issues.

Most of this information comes straight from the recycling pros. Careful reading to the end virtually guarantees that you’ll know what they know.

The proposed instrument would include articles and an annex with regulations for safe and environmentally-sound recycling of ships, covering requirements for ships, requirements for ship recycling facilities and reporting requirements. You may not have access to a kerbside collection service and will then have to rely on bring banks and mini recycling centres. Because of these reasons, it is very difficult to offer specific advice about methods of recycling that will be relevant nationally – so the best thing to do is to visit your local council’s website or telephone them directly to see what is available to you locally.

We also need to lobby government and industry to support and subsidise improved recycling facilities. To make sorting and thus recycling easier, the American Society of Plastics Industry developed a standard marking code to help consumers identify and sort the main types of plastic. In evaluating the environmental properties of a material, recycling is a key element. This presentation looks at the recycling of stainless steel in greater detail.

If you found the information on this website useful and would like to know more about recycling and waste issues in Suffolk please register with recycling in Suffolk. By registering you will gain access to more in-depth information on current strategies and progress; past campaigns and successes and challenges which face waste management organisations in Suffolk in the future. The Data Shredding process is much more preferable to simply destroying otherwise serviceable computers aiding computer recycling efforts. Since we implemented the grey bin system, our recycling rates have rocketed! Latest figures show that 30% of all Wirral’s waste is being recycled!

That’s the latest recycling facts from the authorities. Once you’re familiar with these ideas, you’ll be ready to move to the next level.

BBC to screen programme on The Co-operative’s ethical campaigning

Co-op campaigns against Toxic Fuels and for the Beaver Lake Cree

Co-op campaigns against Toxic Fuels and for the Beaver Lake Cree

Monday 26 October, BBC One is screening a half hour programme on The Co-operative’s ethical campaigning, with a focus on their most recent fight against Toxic Fuels and our support for the Beaver Lake Cree’s legal challenge.

The Beaver Lake Cree live in Alberta, Canada, and have seen their traditional lands degraded by large scale deforestation and pollution arising from tar developments. They have launched a legal case, taking on the Canadian and Albertan Governments, as well as every oil giant currently operating in the tar sands.

This fight is a true David versus Goliath battle, with the lawsuit potentially the only thing between us and runaway climate change.

Watch the programme: Monday 26 October, 7.30pm:

* BBC One North West
* Sky channel 978
* Freesat channel 955
* Watch it on iPlayer from Tuesday 27 October.

Spread the word – tell your friends, family and colleagues about this issue and help them join our fight via our pages on Twitter and Facebook, as well as our campaign site

Recycling Tips To Cut Costs(2)

When you think about recycling bins, what do you think of first? Which aspects of recycling facts are important, which are essential, and which ones can you take or leave? You be the judge.

An ad campaign promoting consumer awareness of recycling will help reinforce the message. Pundit explains: What is unique about CC’s recycling program is that it’s geared towards serving a municipality. The CC branded bins are a repository for all bottles and cans? So when recycling came to day care, the kids were asked to rinse out plastic items and told why they were doing it.

Some don’t plan on recycling them. I also don’t plan on throwing them away. I submit that recycling the soap for use in the US is more effective. The profits could be invested in soap making done in Africa. The bin will be recycled either through the county’s material recycling center or through a contractual arrangement with the roll-out cart company that provides the new recycle carts.

If you find yourself confused by what you’ve read to this point about recycling bins and how recycling affects our environment, don’t despair. Everything should be crystal clear by the time you finish.

The recycling ratio is 89 percent for air conditioners (the required legal standard is 60 percent), 89 percent for tube TV sets (55 percent), 74 percent for refrigerators (50 percent), and 84 percent for washing machines (50 percent). Recycling rates continuously exceeded the minimum requirements, showing a steady increase from FY2007. Of course, when I am in a more recycling-friendly location, I’m keeping all my jars and cans for myself. There are a lot of great local places on the list that offer vouchers/reward points. If you mostly use paper grocery bags make sure you use them several times until they wear out, and then put them into the respective recycling bin. Try to keep them clean, and in other case you can rinse them with water and dry.

One change I noticed from April when the new recycling process was announced is that “Residents who already had a 35-gallon trash cart (prior to the new program) will receive a 35-gallon recycling cart” (FAQ). However, again according to the FAQ, “Any resident who wants to change to a smaller cart now (after mail in deadline of June 12, 2009) can call to be placed on a waiting list.

Does anyone out there have good recycling processes laid out for these canisters? The kiosk program seems to be a great answer for the recycling issue surrounding small electronics devices, an issue that is growing in importance as more consumers purchase and use more and more electronic gadgets and gizmos. If the program works, it could be a great boon to the recycling movement in the U.S. You see, people like me, living in residences having several units with private trash haulers don’t have recycling.

Is there really any information about recycling bins that is non-essential? We all see things from different angles, so something relatively insignificant about recycling to one may be crucial to another.

Recycling Tips To Reduce Costs

The following article presents the very latest information on recycling bins. If you have a particular interest in recycling facts and how recycling affects our environment, then this informative article is required reading.

We have a few choices in shoe recycling, but my favourite option is a charity created to give shoes to those in need all over the world. If you are a shoe lover too, you can easily get involved by setting up a shoe drive at your school, office, church or in your community. Burying batteries in landfills costs a tenth of the cost of recycling.

If you find yourself confused by what you’ve read to this point about recycling bins and how recycling affects our environment, don’t despair. Everything should be crystal clear by the time you finish.

However, this is an instance where we should really reduce the reuse of recycling. We recently relocated from rural Idaho where there was NO recycling service available. The County landfill was within a year of its permitted capacity and the County Commissioners would not take action on implementing a solution! Worse, where dissimilar materials are bonded to each other in the way that they tend to be – if the manufacturer means those materials not to come apart – effective recycling is more or less impossible. The higher grade plastics get irretrievably contaminated through mixing with other plastics; then the only viable destination is the base of a traffic cone, or similar.

The New York legislature may decide to come back into session this year to fix some budget issues, and could possibly act on the pending electronics recycling legislation at that time. We expect that the Senate will concur with the changes made in the Assembly and that the Governor will sign the bill. When the garbage men or recycling men drop something, do you think they would be so kind as to pick it up?

In just our first year of our latest program, where consumers can drop off items at our stores for recycling, we’re going to recycle more than 1 million units, or more than 50 million pounds. We know this makes a difference, but there’s more to do. Thanks to the magazine we bring you this great idea: full-on ski recycling. In 2008 the industries of America collected unwanted gear — skis, boards and boots — at ski shops around Colorado and put them through a multistep process to separate out their recyclable plastic and metal parts. Hershkowitz’s study found that the four airports he observed that had aggressive recycling programs saved at least $100,000 a year.

Sometimes it’s tough to sort out all the details related to the subject of recycling bins, but I’m positive you’ll have no trouble making sense of the information presented above. Read more interesting recycling facts and how recycling affects our environment on the main site.

Business Failures Anonymous

Join BFA

In the current economic climate where we are facing great challenges in business operations, all the hard-nosed facts, projections, statistics, Dow Jones/FTSE ups and downs sometimes hide the fact that there are real people behind it all. And some of them are facing life-changing (and potentially life-ending) circumstances. For small businesses, this can mean one person facing these circumstances alone – Business Failures Anonymous is a support network for entrepreneurs/owners of failed businesses who need a support/buddy network in the real world.

Business Failures Anonymous‘ mission is to revitalise real world contact for people who may be struggling to come to terms with their situation and who seek support from people in similar situations. Business Failures Anonymous recognises that there is a wealth of professional business advice readily available but also believes that there is a lack of emotional support for people facing potentially serious consequences of a failed business.

Taking its model from groups such as Alcoholics/Gamblers Anonymous, it picks up where “a professed ‘failure’” left it some time ago. BFA’s main aim is to make it easy for anyone facing the stress and pressures of a failed business to find a “buddy” and/or organise a local group or join an existing support group.

If you feel that you would benefit from or could offer support to Business Failures Anonymous, please visit the main site and the blog to see if there is something for you.

You might have heard that the rights to my award-winning sixth
book, Principled Profit: Marketing That Puts People First, got
picked up by John Wiley & Sons, and it forms the basis for my
eighth book, Guerrilla Marketing Goes Green (co-authored with Jay
Conrad Levinson). The new book will include all but, I think, two
chapters of Principled Profit, plus some 20-25,000 words of new
material. Wiley will publish it in 2010. I’m especially proud
of this because, following an e-mail introduction by one of
Wiley’s business authors, I landed the deal and negotiated the
contract myself. But my problem is…my contract with Wiley
forces me to stop selling Principled Profit by the end of this
year. And I still have quite a few left. This was a
groundbreaking book when it came out–one of the only voices
showing that ethical business not only made good moral sense, but
good business sense as well. While there are more resources in
this area than there used to be, it’s still really hard to find
this sort of solid, practical advice on both the theory and the
implementation, in a nice, easy-to-read format that anyone can
put into practice. So I’ve got a deal for you! Want a copy for

* I’ve long been a believer in the incredible positive
benefits of being a “giver”; it’s something I’ve talked
about in Principled Profit and elsewhere. So I was delighted to
discover a book built entirely around this concept. The book, The
Power of Giving: How Giving Back Enriches Us All reveals
strategies and secrets of people who possess true wealth and
happiness: making the world a better place, which has the side
benefit of bringing a great deal back to you–but only if your
giving stems from sincerity rather than selfishness. I was also
quite impressed with the authors’ philosophy — and with their
commitment to give away 100% of the royalties they receive.
I’ve poked into several sections of the book and have found
gems all the way through.
* Are you a blogger, marketer, or entrepreneur? You may have
heard that last Monday, the U.S. Federal Trade Commission came
out with a new set of guidelines that require disclosures from
bloggers and affiliates and that appear to change the game when
it comes to using results-based testimonials. Marcia Yudkin, one
of the smartest people I know (I first met her when she was a
professor at Smith College, more than 20 years ago), is
interviewing business attorney and author Jean Sifleet on exactly
what the new FTC regulations mean and do not mean for bloggers,
copywriters, marketers and entrepreneurs. Anyone who registers
ahead of time has the opportunity to submit a question for the
interview. The quality of Marcia’s information tends to be
superb, and I’m sure she’s chosen well to explain this
complex and very important new rule. The call should be available
on or around October 30, and you can register to purchase the
recording in either MP3 or CD (choose at the bottom of her page),
for $39.97–and submit any questions ahead of time, so they
might be chosen for the call.
